Reward Chart

The boys are back in school and they deal with the adjustment way better than I have.
I am finally settling back into the very early mornings, all the home work, ridiculous amounts of paperwork that comes home daily, cub scout, taking them to birthday parties etc.

I have been a bit disorganized and decided once and for all to create my own space where I can keep track of everything easily and my space to craft (yay).

The boys are so much older now and I have to constantly adjust my parenting depending on what stage they are in so I came up with this reward chart.

I used a simple clip board, scrapbook paper, and wooden circles you can find in the wood section at Joannes or Michaels, paint, mode podge, and velcro.
I decided to have the boys help so they could get excited about the new "program".
I had to think of what my kids like most, which is money and candy.

Each circle represents $.25 and they start the week with a full chart that is equal to $5.00
Every time they get in trouble (talk back etc.) I remove a "coin"
They receive their cash on Fridays depending how much they end with.
On weekends they get to choose from the candy/toy drawer.

What I love about it is that I use the velcro and it is easy to remove and stick back on.

I decided last minute to buy some stars so they can earn extra points for helping.
It is amazing how often I get asked what they can help with to earn extra points!

Now instead of saying, "don't talk back" or "stop yelling at your brother" it's as simple as, "Coin!"
So much quieter around here!!!!

  1. That's really neat! Do you give them a warning about the coin first or just take it away when they act up?

    1. Susie, I just say coin! And they behave instantly! Sometimes my youngest will have an attitude and I look at him and he will go and take one off himself without me saying a word!

Long Awaited

Ethan has had the typical "little brother" problems. A huge one being that he has been going to all Kaidens scouting activities for 2 years and couldn't participate. Being the observer of your bigger brother having fun... not so much fun. Then we had the move to Dubai, so what should've been his first year, wasn't. He was so excited and was all smiles at his very first scouting event where he could participate! I can't get over how cute and official he looked in his uniform. He took every belt loop he earned extremely seriously. It's also weird to see Kaiden in his webelo uniform, I always saw it as for the "bigger boys". I guess my little Kaiden is one of the big boys now.

Mr. and Mrs. John Benham!!!

This is the moment we have both been waiting for for years! It was perfection. Nothing short of magical. We had quite a bit of time after getting ready, there were so many emotions, so happy I laughed, so happy I cried. I love these photos and am so happy that every moment was captured.  Can't wait to see the professional ones!                                 Waiting for the go ahead                                         It's time!!                              Everyone ready t...

Because Of You

Daddy, because of you I...well, exist.  Because of you I know I am special because you told me every day.Because of you I made it through some really hard times, you were and are still always there for me.  Because of you I always know I have a friend to listen that always has my back.  Thanks for letting me watch T.V. when I wasn't allowed to, bringing me home chocolates and pepsi (which was a BIG deal back then).  Thank you for everything you have done for me, and I hope you know how much I love you. Jesse, because of you I have the 2 most wonderful little boys in the world.  I know we may not always see eye to eye but when it comes to our boys we can always come together and do what is best for them and I appreciate that, and I am sure when they are old enough to understand what we do for them, so will they. John, because of you the boys have a good role model.  Because of you  I get to show them by example what a loving, caring relationshi...
