John and I mark today as our "unofficial" anniversary! Doesn't make sense, okay, well here's the truth, we were officially together sometime in November but neither of us remember the day =( How sad. How do we choose today to mark the beginning?
Two years ago today is the first time we ever hung out outside my job where we met. My coworkers and I became friends with John (as we did most our customers) and for the first time he hung out without us outside of work. It was weird because we never saw him outside our workplace before but it was fun for us to all get to hang out while the rest of us didn't have to work. We didn't know it at the time, but it was the beginning of something BIG.
The very next day some other of my customers invited me to a bbq (yes, as I said I made lots of friends with my customers) and I of course said, SURE! And John and I ended up hanging out there together. At the bbq I stepped away to make a phone call and when I was walking back over by John our eyes met, and there was magic. I wasn't sure if he felt it too, because we were always just friends, but talking about it later we both mark that as one of our first "moments" where we thought "I could be with this person". We also ate at Pacific Spice that day, I remember everything like it was yesterday.
This bbq we went to isn't just any bbq, it's called the "Break-A-Leg Party". The lady that invited me jumped 24 feet into 2ft of water and broke both her legs, ouch!!! She didn't have insurance so she started this party to raise money for her many surgeries. We went last year again and they were all so excited to see that we were a couple and they like to boast that they were the beginning of our relationship, so you can imagine how excited they were when we were able to bring the boys this year for them to meet and to hear that we are pregnant! They all cannot wait till next year when we bring the baby. This bbq has been so special to us, I have flashbacks of that first year every year and I love that we have something to do every year at this time, it has worked out so perfectly.
The boys had such a good time they begged, "Can we pleeeaaase come back tomorrow?" I said, "No, because there won't be a party tomorrow, but we can come back next year." Their oh-so-clever response, "There wont be a party, but there will still be a trampoline!!!"
