Treasure Hunt

When we were going to Jamaica with the boys I realized that I only had winter clothes for them and hadn't done their 5 or 6 year old summer clothes shopping yet because it was still cold in Atlanta.  I had 2 full weeks of non stop shopping getting shirts, shorts, swim trunks, sandals, swim shoes, sunglasses, you name it, I probably bought it.  Not to mentions coloring books, tubes for swimming and many other activities to keep them occupied while we traveled.  I had all these bags everywhere full of stuff and the boys were at Jesses that weekend and I didn't want to pack all the stuff for them.  We considered laying out piles in their room, I still was not satisfied with that idea, then all of a sudden it hit me, a Treasure Hunt! (Just call me genius, I don't mind, promise).  So we put items in piles and started coming up with cute rhymes and semi easy clues and places to hide their stuff.  Once we got the whole thing planned out John went online and found pictures that was appropriate to each clue.  We typed up the clues, printed them, crinkled the paper, took a lighter and burnt the paper.

The boys went crazy over this!! I love the way they had to work together to solve the clues and had to really think hard to figure some of them out.  This exercise reminded me that it is the journey, and not the destination.  As soon as it was over the boys couldn't care less what they got, they were just sad it was over because they had so much fun! Next time I will probably have about 20 clues and some cookies at the end!!! (Homemade oatmeal chocolate chip is our fav).

Mr. and Mrs. John Benham!!!

This is the moment we have both been waiting for for years! It was perfection. Nothing short of magical. We had quite a bit of time after getting ready, there were so many emotions, so happy I laughed, so happy I cried. No Rest For The Weary

Yesterday was sweet and sad, and maybe a bit boring. Amalia woke up with a fever and insisted on sleeping right on top of me on and off all day. Even though she was sick, and I did feel a bit cruel and selfish, I pulled out my camera and got to clicking. I simply won't give her a break! But it was worth it.   Look how sweet and peaceful she looked only an hour before she threw up on me. She is the prettiest little girl and oh so sweet.   I love photographing her. She still has a bit of a temperature today so it seems I am back on "pamper the baby even more than normal" duty. My job is to lay on the couch and be her bed, her comfort, and anything else she may need. And today I will give her a break from her modeling duties. I have the best job in the world. I love my kids.

Long Awaited

Ethan has had the typical "little brother" problems. A huge one being that he has been going to all Kaidens scouting activities for 2 years and couldn't participate. Being the observer of your bigger brother having fun... not so much fun. Then we had the move to Dubai, so what should've been his first year, wasn't. He was so excited and was all smiles at his very first scouting event where he could participate! I can't get over how cute and official he looked in his uniform. He took every belt loop he earned extremely seriously. It's also weird to see Kaiden in his webelo uniform, I always saw it as for the "bigger boys". I guess my little Kaiden is one of the big boys now.
